We have just the role for you with the chance for continued progression within the business.

We’re looking for someone to join our potato growing team as a Fields Person to oversee operations and sampling across the sites in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

If you have a passion for agriculture, producing quality potatoes, and maintaining and enhancing good working relationships with contractors and landowners, then this is the job for you.

Reporting direct to the Growing Manger, the role involves but is not limited to:

• Visiting contractors overseeing all field operations required for growing the perfect potato crop.
• Liaise with our independent agronomists looking after each site.
• Monitor potato seed deliveries and their requirements.
• Conduct potato seed inspection reports upon arrival and produce planting plans as required.
• Monitor the growing crops throughout the season, which will involve carrying out regular sample digs to assess their quality.
• Assist and manage ongoing trials work carried out as part of the businesses R&D strategy.
• Produce in-depth reports to the procurement and sales team regarding the progression of each crop within the portfolio to enable better communication with our customers.
• With the help of the growing manager oversee the lifting campaign from start to finish to enhance the quality and storability of each specialist crop by providing accurate daily updates of their conditions.
• Monitor stocks in all on and off-site stores including making the decisions for the need for any applications of post-harvest sprout suppressants.
• Organise regular wash ups of stocks to assess quality.
• Create storage plans for the supply chain manager to enable quick reference and uplift of crops required for the pack house.
• Produce and file documents required for all accreditation audits to the highest standard.
• Become part of the planning team for our own growing operations, take charge of purchasing and regular updates regarding valuable inputs for the crops.

As well as a passion for potatoes and agriculture, we are also looking for a highly self-motivated individual who can work on their own and as part of a small team.  Has a good agricultural and potato crop production knowledge and who is able to create and enforce strong planning and quality systems to enable the best quality crops to be grown and distributed.
