World Food Safety Day

Foodborne diseases affect 1 in 10 people worldwide each year. There are over 200 of these diseases – some mild, but others deadly.

This year’s theme, “Safer food, better health”, highlights the role that safe, nutritional food plays in ensuring human health and well-being and calls for a set of specific actions to make food safer.

We all have a role to play; whether we grow, process, transport, store, sell, buy, prepare or serve food, food safety is in all our hands. And if we work together, we can all help achieve safer food for better health.

We take food safety very seriously and have recently been awarded a grade AA+ on our BRCGS Food Safety Inspection, which is the highest award possible.

Solar Panels to Soak up the Rays

Installation has been completed on a 220kWp Solar Panel system.  Just in time for the early sunshine of Spring! This type of renewal resource energy generation ideally matches our processes, as our peak demand coincides with the peak output of the sun.

Our roofs are now covered in panels to soak up those rays, significantly reducing our carbon footprint!

Bennett Potatoes donates spuds to Hibaldstow Academy

100_2705Bennett Potatoes has lent a helping hand to school children getting to grips with the humble potato.

To learn more about the UK’s most popular vegetable, students at Hibaldstow Academy near Brigg entered a competition at the Lincolnshire Show this year called ‘Project Potato’.

The children had to grow their own potatoes and then cook them. Bennett Potatoes supplied some additional potatoes to the academy as the students’ spuds weren’t quite ready in time for the show.

Martin Rhodes operations factory manager at Bennett Potatoes, said: “We were more than happy to supply Hibaldstow Academy with some of our potatoes to support their competition entry.

“Engaging with the local community is something we have always been keen to do and we are making efforts to increase that interaction with the community.”
